The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has recovered two FN FAL rifles and live ammunition during an operation at a suspected bandits’ hideout in a forest between Plateau and Bauchi states.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, said this in a statement issued on Wednesday, saying the operation followed the arrest of four suspects allegedly involved in supplying arms, ammunition and illicit substances to bandits.
Adeh said operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit carried out the follow-up operation on August 2, 2026, after obtaining information from one of the suspects in custody, identified as Musbahu Ishaq.
According to her, Ishaq led the operatives to Dajin Madam forest, where investigators believed the criminal group was using a location as one of its hideouts.
She said further investigation linked Ishaq to the supply of arms and ammunition obtained from one Rabiu Hassan and delivered to Baba Alhaji Sanusi, a suspected bandit kingpin who is currently at large.
Adeh said Sanusi was believed to be hiding in a forest in Katsina State.
She added that a search of the hideout resulted in the recovery of two FN FAL rifles and live ammunition concealed at the location.
The police spokesperson said investigations were continuing to track down other members of the alleged syndicate, recover more weapons linked to the network and bring those arrested before the court.
The Command said the operation was part of ongoing efforts to disrupt the supply networks supporting banditry and other violent crimes in the region.
