The Kano State Government has presented a welfare support package worth ₦1 million and food items to the family of late Inspector Sani Haladu, a police officer who died while on active duty.
The presentation took place on Monday at the Kano State Police Command Headquarters, Bompai, Kano, in honour of the officer, who lost his life on March 27, 2026, while serving with the Nigeria Police Force.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Kano State Command, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the intervention was aimed at supporting the bereaved family and recognising the sacrifices of officers who die in the line of duty.
Representing the state government, the Commissioner for Local Government, Hon. Mohammed Tajo Othman, handed over the welfare package to the police command for onward delivery to the deceased officer’s family.
The package comprised a cash donation of ₦1 million, five bags of rice, six bags of spaghetti, six bags of macaroni and two 25-litre jerry cans of vegetable oil.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Lawal Isa Mani, expressed appreciation to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and the Kano State Government for the gesture.
He described the late Inspector Haladu as a dedicated, loyal and gallant officer who remained committed to duty until his death.
Mani said the government’s intervention reflected the cordial relationship between the Kano State Government and the police, adding that the support would reassure serving officers and their families that their sacrifices were recognised and appreciated.
“The action of the State Government is highly commendable and a clear demonstration of the existing cordial relationship between the Government and the Police,” he said.
He added that the gesture would boost the morale of officers serving across the state by reinforcing confidence that their commitment to protecting lives and property would not go unnoticed.
Also speaking, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended Governor Yusuf and the state government for the support, describing it as a significant contribution to the welfare of police officers and their families.
Bakori reaffirmed the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across Kano State’s 44 local government areas, assuring the late officer’s family of the command’s continued support.
He prayed for the peaceful repose of Inspector Haladu’s soul and urged officers and men of the command to remain disciplined, professional and steadfast in the discharge of their duties.
The police command also appealed to residents to continue supporting security agencies with credible information to strengthen efforts aimed at maintaining peace and security across the state.
