As Muslims across the Federal Capital Territory celebrates Eid el-Fitr, the Federal Fire Service (FFS), FCT Command, has moved to reassure residents of its full operational readiness to respond swiftly to emergencies during the festive period.
The Controller of the Command, MS Anas, gave the assurance during a routine post-festive briefing with station commanders, where he outlined clear directives aimed at strengthening emergency response across the territory. He instructed all unit heads to ensure that personnel remain fully deployed and prepared to handle incidents in any part of the FCT.
Central to the directive is the need for operational efficiency, with a strong emphasis on maintaining firefighting equipment in optimal condition. According to the Controller, fire trucks and other critical response tools must be ready for immediate use throughout the celebration period.
Reinforcing the Service’s commitment, Anas stressed that the Federal Fire Service operates as an essential institution and does not observe public holidays, maintaining uninterrupted service even during festive seasons.
Beyond operational readiness, the Command is also drawing attention to preventive measures. Residents have been urged to adopt safety-conscious habits, particularly as activities during festive periods can increase fire risks. The Controller highlighted simple but crucial precautions, including switching off electrical appliances when not in use, avoiding unattended cooking, and refraining from the use of fireworks.
He further encouraged residents to keep emergency contact details readily accessible to ensure prompt communication in the event of a fire outbreak or related incidents.
Extending goodwill, Anas congratulated Muslim faithful on the successful completion of Ramadan and wished them a peaceful and joyous Eid el-Fitr celebration.
