A Brief Profile Of Rt Hon Abdullahi Ibrahim Ali Halims

Hon Abdullahi Ibrahim Aliyu was born on the 16th Day of August, about four decades ago. He hails from Angwa in Ankpa local government area of Kogi state and was born into the family of late Alhaji Ibrahim Aliyu. He had his primary education at Ankpa before proceeding to the Ochaja Boys Secondary School, Ochaja where he obtained his Secondary School Certificate and Later Bagged a degree in Political Science from the University of Abuja-Gwagwalada, Nigeria.

Before his political adventure, he was at the Nigerian coal corporation as a student trainee where he graduated as a mine Engineer from colliery mining school Enugu and later worked with the corporation as an overman underground manager between Enugu and Okaba coal mines for seventeen years before resigning to start his own private enterprise (Halims Investment Nigeria Limited). The enterprise deals majorly in Estate Management, Hotels, Oil and Gas Operations as well as general contractors and he did not only succeeded in the field but has mentored and raised other successful merchants.

Been a coinage from his company name, Hon Abdullahi Ibrahim Aliyu is popularly known within and outside Kogi state as “Halims” and the name has been thriving at an eagle soaring pace since he joined active politics in the year 2006. His first shot was at the Kogi state house of assembly and he had a landslide victory to represent Ankpa 1 constituency between 2007-2011 on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

His tenure was characterised with many unprecedented stride among which are the construction of Ojede road network, Gulley erosion control at different sites in Ankpa, Deep drainage works at Ogaji, St Charles Road, COE Road and other erosion threatened locations in Ankpa, Skill acquisition programs, influencing of constituents into civil service, paramilitary and military services at both state and federal level etc.

It was upon this premise that the good people of Ankpa/Omala/Olamaboro federal constituency gave him a clarion call to represent the federal constituency at house of representatives, an endeavor he has dared twice but lost with not just narrow margins but unavoidable circumstances.

In his dogged and tenacity, Hon Halims tried again in 2019 amidst all the intricacies, this time, his dream to Represent his people at the Green chamber of the National Assembly come to fruition as he won by a landslide in 2019 General election to Represent the good people of Ankpa, Omala and Olamaboro federal constituency.

It’s all positive input and output for Hon Halims who is a newcomer at the 9th Assembly. His sagacity and positive input at the green chamber motivated the house to give him the Chairman of a committee, a rare privilege seldom enjoy by a new member. Hon Abdullahi Ibrahim Halims was appointed by the House to chair the committee on steel Development.

Besides his position as the Chairman of the House Committee on steel Development, Hon Halims is a member of the several Committees at the HOR, which includes;

*House Committee Member on Oil Downstream.

*House Committee Member on Capital Market, Etc.

Hon Halims is a practicing Muslim with high respect for the believes and doctrine of other faith adherents. He is a proud father and grandfather who is happily married to Hajiya Jumai and the marital union is blessed with children. He is well travelled and can speak Igala, English and Igbo languages with ease.
