Rep Halims Make Case For Conversion of Some Kogi Roads To Federal Roads. Says Bagana-Abejukolo Others Will be prioritized In His Adhoc Committee.

Member representing Ankpa, Omala and Olamaboro federal Constituency in Kogi state said the ongoing verification of federal government projects in Kogi state will avail him the opportunity as committee member to recommend some roads to be designated as ‘federal roads’ in Kogi state.

The federal lawmaker made this disclosure in his office after his appointment as a member of the adhoc committee on the verification of federal government projects in Kogi state recently set up by the house.

Rt Honourable Abdullahi Ibrahim Ali Halims who lauded the ongoing works on the Makurdi, Adoka, Ajobe Emere road by the federal government, said the linkage of Emere, Ofugo, Inye, Ojeke, Ibado ,Abejukolo to terminate at the new Bagana bridge linking Oweto will be the best thing that will happen not only to Kogi state, but the northern and southern flank of the country.

Halims who expressed worries that the people of this areas had been cut off completely, said the burden and potentials of these roads deserve federal attention.

“When the federal authorities linked Bagana ,Abejukolo to Emere junction,the rehabilitation of Ankpa, Okpo , Etutekpe to Otukpa branch will be recommended and inculcated.’

“With Kogi state government opening up Inye, Ogodu roads that linked Egume, giving it’s potentials, the federal government will have no choice than to accept our recommendations.” He said.

“I will ensure that federal government presence criss cross my federal Constituency from Ankpa, Omala and Olamaboro to the glory of all and sundry.”

“It is no longer news that the road corridor from Otukpa in Benue State end, linking the east in Ubollo afor, Iga ikeje, Ugbamaka Iga, Ogene Zaria, Alloma and Ejule corridor had being a major transit for travelers to the east and northern part of the country, there is no doubt that the road is already yearning for total rehabilitation, my committee will recommend instant rehabilitation.”

“Our recommendations will not be a new thing Kogi state, it is a routine government policies and decisions to reduce the burden of provision of infrastructures on the state government.”

“Iam worried over the years that both subsistence and commercial farmers had alot of challenges moving their products from one market to the other, knowing fully well that the people of these areas are predominantly farmers and traders.”

“The story of my people in Omala is quite pathetic, there is a large concentration of thick forests with commercial woods/value meant for the construction of sky scrappers and houses without deforestation, but lack of good and motorable roads had discouraged the influx of timber contractors and other businesses.”

“My committee’s recommendations will not just be a mere exercise, but will be implemented without delay both by the national assembly and by extension the federal government.”

He appealed to the people of his constituency to exercise patience, as his representation will not a period without history or achievements, geared towards the welfare of the people.

Halims maintained that apart from roads, basic infrastructural and social services like water, light, health care services and other federal presence will be recommended in the new assignment.

He promised not to disappoint the electorates in his constituency , particularly towards provision of the dividends of democracy in all ramifications.
