We Paid Minimum Wage , Arears Of Teachers In FCT; UBEB Ag Chairman.

The Director and Ag Chairman Universal Basic Education Board UBEB, Dr Hassan Sule said the FCT teachers have no reasons to proceed on strike as payment of salaries, arears of minimum wage and other allowances were paid uptill December, 2021.
The Director however mentioned that the Local Education Authority LEA teachers employed by the area councils had outstanding salaries and allowances owing to some disagreements with their various council administration.
The Ag Chairman bare his mind during a session in his office, argued that FCT UBEB was at the forefront of payment of minimum wage to teachers in the country.
‘I have been a member of National body of Education secretaries and we have a point of discussing the welfare of teachers , I can tell you that FCT UBEB is up-to-date in payments of minimum wage due for teachers in the country.’
‘We are meeting the area councils chairmen of Gwagwalada, Kuje and Bwari were issues of replacement and recruitment of teachers became an issue between the council and Education secretaries, as we had ressolved through continuous interface, as directed by the Minister of State, Dr Ramatu Tijanni Aliyu for onward presentation to JAC for approval and subsequent payment to the affected teachers in the area councils of the FCT.’
Dr Sule reiterated the determination of FCT UBEB administration to continue to dialogue with teachers , while calling on the unions to exercise patience and restraint, to ensure the ressolution of the pending issues.
‘UBEB teachers have statutory incentives from payment of rural and urban allowances, to Teachers Registration Council TRCN allowances among many other welfare issues’.
‘With the Minister’s intervention, just like she did during the last strike by offsetting all areas of FCT UBEB teachers, will be replicated as soon as possible,assuring the LEA teachers of the assurances of the Minster.’
He urges FCT teachers to reciprocate the FCT administration’s gesture and special attention to Education sector, with a view to finding a lasting solution that will not affect the school children that have currently resumed.
