Rt Honourable Hassan Abdullahi Baiwa Advocates Rejig of Primary Health Care(PHC) Systems,To Address Health Emergencies.

Member,House of Representatives committee on Health,Alhaji Hassan Abdullahi Baiwa has advocated an urgent and emergency attention to the Primary Health Care (PHC), systems in the country,to address both existing and emergency health related issues.

The Federal Lawmaker raised this alarm during the public hearing by the House of Representatives committee on Health on an act to repeal the quarantine and other infectious diseases bill in Nigeria .

Baiwa insisted that only concerted efforts of the Federal,State and Local Government, will be a panacea to health management both on existing and emergency health situation, like the current COVID-19 global pandemic.

He says the negligence of goverment at all levels over time,is responsible for the controversy sorrounding the bill and it’s amedmement or otherwise,saying it will also contain community spread of the pandemic.

Baiwa recall the days of former Health Minister,Olikoye Ramsome-Kuti when the govenment attention towards a robust Primary Health Care system contributed not only to the health stability,but economic and social developement.

He appealed to the committee not to only concentrate their energies on the bill or it’s nomenclature,but carry out legislation that will address prevailing cases and the current pandemic.

Baiwa opined his confidence in the reactivation of the Primary Health Care(PHC) systems,as it will discourage any aliment from getting out of hand.

He commended the presentation of the some Stakeholders particularly on the coalition of civil society group, that it’s presentation took adequate cognisance of fundemental human rights of Nigerians.
