COVID-19; Military,Police Makes Brisk Money On Lokoja-Abuja Roads Checkpoints From Motorists

Military and Para-Military officers posted to Lokoja-Abuja axis has turned their special assignments to gold mine,making thousands of naira on both mobile and stationed road blocks within their locations.


This developement has greatly affected the restrictions and partial movement order imposed by both State and Federal government,given way to spread of COVID-19.


Reports monitored on major Militaty check points from Banda to Jamata,Abaji and to mobile check points mounted by the Police, confirmed that numerous extortion of motorist who defy the partial lockdown of states are on the increase.


The three Military check points according to sources, make not less than 1 million naira on daily basis as motorists, were being charged as tolls before giving way.


It was revealed that trailers pay between 4,000 to 5,000,while singles and ten tyres part with 2,000-3,000,as well as Buses plying the roads,as private cars parted with between 2,000-3,000 one off.

The mobile road barricade mounted by the Police in about 15 strategic places, between Lokoja and the Federal Capital Territory, had turned the restrictions in the states and partial lockdown as another form of money making venture.

‘The Police barricade did not accept less than 1,000 from each passer by’.A passenger who did not want his name mentioned,exclaimed.

But all efforts to reach the Militaty heirachy in Charry Megu Meri Barracks Lokoja ,the Police authorities in Kogi and FCT,proved abortive as nobody was ready to comment on the new development.

This developement has facilitated community transmission of the dreaded Corona virus in large numbers, across the states of the Federation,frustrating the restrictions order of both States and Federal government.
